I met my first California fan, Chuck Monda, in 1968, when he was a student at Mount SAC. In 1971, Chuck was drafted and sent to Vietnam, where this photo was taken. Chuck returned safely, is still one of my best friends, and I happily dedicate this 2014 recording of my Vietnam Era song, complete with helicopter gunships, jets, rockets, napalm, and a simulated newscast opening, accurately reflecting the period's sonic imagery, to Chuck and all who served in that conflict. Realizing the authentic-sounding newscast might do a “War of the Worlds” on today’s listeners, I released the song on the Reconstructed Coffeehouse Blues album without it. This single includes that simulated newscast. To buy the download, click Chuck's photo, (left). |
